These annually-occurring utility outages are for preventive maintenance and repair that reduce unplanned emergency outages due to breakdowns.

Electrical Outage

This Spring's planned electrical outage will begin at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2017. Each building is expected to be without power for 1 ½ to 2 hours.Facilities staff will coordinate the specific inspection schedule with assigned building coordinator.This electrical outage will affect the following buildings:

  • Hilltop
  • Crest Wellness Center
  • Chancellors Hall
  • Oak Ridge Hall
  • Bridgeman Hall
  • Sutherland Hall
  • Governors Hall
  • Horan Hall
  • Towers North & South
  • Murray Hall

Steam Outage

This spring's planned steam outage will occur on Saturday, May 20, 2017, 6:00 p.m. through Tuesday, May 30, 2017, 3:00pm. There will be no potable hot water during the steam outage -except for the following locations that have electrical or natural gas backup hot water generation equipment.

Locations with back up hot water generation equipment:

  • Ade Olson Addition
  • All Residence Hall Director Apartments
  • Brewer Hall
  • Chancellors Hall
  • Crest Wellness Center
  • Davies Student Center
  • Maintenance and Central Stores Building
  • Haas Fine Arts
  • Hibbard Hall
  • Human Sciences and Services
  • Library (including Old Library)
  • Murray Hall
  • Nursing Building
  • Oak Ridge Hall
  • Phillips Hall
  • Schofield Hall
  • Thomas Hall
  • Zorn Arena

Water Outage

Work on the Garfield Avenue redevelopment project will require a water shut-off from 6-7:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, in Schofield Hall, Old Library and McIntyre Library.

There will be no running water in these buildings during the water shut-off.

Those working in or visiting the affected buildings are asked to use restrooms in other campus buildings until the water supply is turned back on. We apologize for any inconvenience the water outage may cause.
