Student Employment

Event Services employs, on average, 50 students each semester. Event Services has three teams of student workers – Event Production Crew, Student Building Managers and Usher Corps. Event Services student staff goes through extensive training sessions each semester covering general procedures, safety, and specialized knowledge for their unique duties on campus. Each team also has a student supervisor that works as a team leader and coordinates with each team's respective staff supervisor.

EVENT CREW I

Event Crew employees are responsible for the setup and operation of sound reinforcement systems, lighting systems, projection equipment, video equipment, communications equipment, setup equipment and in-house systems. Working in team-based environments, members complete setups, tear-downs, sanitation and preparation for events.

EVENT CREW CHIEF

This is a student supervisor position with an emphasis on overseeing the professional execution of lighting, sound and projection equipment for scheduled events, including large major special events and scheduled events in Zorn Arena. This position is responsible for the training/mentoring of the Production Technicians and their use of the facility/technical equipment required for the event.

SCHEDULING COORDINATOR

The Scheduling Coordinator receives event information, processes reservations and invoices, and schedules the Event Production Crew to work events. The position works closely with the Assistant Director for Event Services, Event Services coordinators, other programming entities, the Event Crew Student Manager, and the Event Production Coordinator to coordinate upcoming events. The Scheduling Coordinator also is responsible for the organization and storage of all event history and invoice data.

STUDENT BUILDING MANAGER

Student Building Managers provide for the operations and security of the University Centers in the absence of or in addition to permanent staff. The Student Building Manager promotes and enforces the University Centers' policies in helping to maintain the order, security and safety of the building and its occupants. The Student Building Manager serves in the role of House Management for major University Center's events and provides audio-visual support for events in Davies Center and Schofield Auditorium. Student Building Managers are CPR, First Aid, and AED certified by the American Red Cross.
