What happened to English 110 and 112?
I can't find them in the course offerings!
English 110 and English 112 will no longer exist as of fall 2013. If your degree audit says you need to take English 110 or 112, you will instead need to take one of the following courses: WRIT 114, 116, 118, or 120. Your UW System English placement test score (UWENGL), performance on an AP exam, or prior coursework in composition determine which course you must take to meet the University Writing Requirement.
PREREQUISITES AND COURSES
UWENGL score of 150 to 404 - WRIT 114: Intensive Blugold Seminar in Critical Reading and Writing. 5 credits
UWENGL score of 405 to 594 - WRIT 116: Blugold Seminar in Critical Reading and Writing. 5 credits
UWENGL of 595 or above, AP English Language and Composition or Literature and Composition score of 4 or 5, University Honors program - WRIT 118: Accelerated Blugold Seminar in Critical Reading and Writing. 2 credits
Students transferring in a 3-credit writing course (WRIT 907L) - WRIT 120: Blugold Seminar in Critical Reading and Writing for Transfer Students. 2 credits. Placement mechanism: approved partial composition credit from another college or university. This is the course for transfer students who come with partial composition credit.
More information about the Blugold Seminar in Critical Reading and Writing can be found on the program's website. Incoming first-year and transfer students also have the opportunity to fulfill their University Writing Requirement or modify their placement in WRIT courses by submitting a portfolio (see WRIT Credit Through Portfolio).
Placement into these courses is mandatory based on the above criteria; you may not select a different course.
Students needing to repeat English 110 for replacement grade can take either Writing 114 or 116, depending on their placement score.
Students needing to repeat English 112 for replacement grade can take either Writing 118 or 120, depending on their prerequisites.
