A probationary, tenure-track faculty position is available in the Department of Political Science at the rank of Assistant Professor with an emphasis in American Politics beginning August 20, 2012.
Responsibilities
- Applicants will teach courses as assigned in the Department of Political Science.
- Other faculty duties include participating in research and scholarly/creative activities, providing academic advising to students as assigned, engaging in service to the university and community, and participating in department, college, and university committee work.
Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in Political Science is preferred. ABDs will be considered, but a completed doctoral degree is required by December 31, 2013.
- Salary will be commensurate with teaching experience.
- The department has need for someone broadly trained in American Politics with a demonstrated ability to teach an introductory course in American Politics and advanced public law courses.
- An ability to teach courses in political theory, methods, or minority politics will be considered an asset.
- The ability to bring diverse perspectives to the campus may also be considered an asset.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Political Science consists of ten political scientists and three criminal justice faculty and has approximately 200 undergraduate political science majors and 60 minors.
