The Department of Mathematics at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire invites applications for a probationary tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with an emphasis in developmental/remedial mathematics. The position will start August 19, 2013. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The primary responsibility of the position is to provide leadership for the Department’s developmental/remedial mathematics program.
This includes teaching, development of curriculum, and management of tutors.
Other responsibilities include scholarship and service.
A doctorate in mathematics or mathematics education is required by August 19, 2013.
The successful applicant will demonstrate experience working with diverse student populations including students of color and nontraditional students in order to promote access, retention, success, and institutional receptivity.
The successful applicant will have experience teaching developmental mathematics courses.
Experience using technology-based course delivery systems will be considered an asset.
The successful applicant will also demonstrate potential to develop a research program that focuses on post-secondary developmental mathematics.
Evidence of an ability to establish a productive research program that can engage undergraduates in student/faculty collaborations will be considered an asset.
The Department of Mathematics has 30 tenured or tenure-track faculty, and offers undergraduate programs in mathematics, actuarial science, and mathematics education. In addition to teaching courses for its majors, the Department also teaches a wide range of courses for non-majors, including developmental mathetics courses, calculus preparation courses, statistics, mathematics courses for elementary education majors, and other liberal education mathematics courses for non-majors.
