A renewable-contract (non-tenure-track) instructional academic staff position in the Department of Information Systems (IS) is available with a title of associate lecturer or lecturer beginning August 20, 2012.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- teach 12 IS credits per semester serving IS majors, minors, certificate seekers, and/or other undergraduate students;
- provide advising to IS students;
- engage in professional development to remain current in the IS field; and
- engage in service to the university, community, and the IS profession.
Requirements
- Applicants must have an earned master's degree or higher in information systems (IS) or a closely related field from an accredited university.
- Applicants must have professional experience in the IS field that is significant in duration and level of responsibility and current at the time of hiring.
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and advising IS students and in remaining current in the field is required.
- Applicants must show that they are team players who will contribute collegially to the College of Business and the IS Department.
- Salary and rank are commensurate with experience..
Preferences:
- Experience in computer networking and security, object-oriented systems analysis and design, business software engineering, database management, and/or IS project management will be considered an asset.
- The ability to enhance diversity and serve as a role model and mentor for women and/or minorities within the department will also be considered an asset.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT AND COLLEGE:
Enjoying an outstanding reputation among businesses across the Upper Midwest since its establishment in 1983, the IS Department is one of four academic departments in the university's AACSB-accredited college of business. The department hosts seven of the college's 57 faculty and 300 of the college's 2,000 undergraduate majors and minors. The department also participates in the College's 200-student MBA program. The college houses the state-of-the-art Cargill Technology Lab, Cargill Technology Collaboration Center, and Hormel Team Room.
