Dean, College of Business

The dean is the chief academic and administrative officer of the College of Business. The dean reports directly to the provost/vice chancellor for academic affairs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dynamic, creative, and visionary leadership for the College of Business in all academic, fiscal, and personnel matters
  • Lead the development, evaluation, and administration of the undergraduate and graduate programs for the college including curriculum, on campus and online instruction, and advising
  • Maintain mission-based strategic planning, high academic standards, and faculty scholarship in support of AACSB reaffirmation
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with external business and academic communities which further the strategic direction of the college and university
  • Lead college fundraising to secure support for teaching, research, program development, professional development, facilities, and other needs
  • Recommend to the provost/vice chancellor all personnel matters relating to appointment, evaluation, promotion, and tenure
  • Advise the provost/vice chancellor in academic, budget, facilities, and support matters
  • Foster an organizational and educational climate that promotes and celebrates diversity

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate/terminal degree from an accredited institution
  • Tenurable as a full professor in one of the academic departments in the College as evidenced by an appropriate record of scholarly activity and teaching excellence
  • Significant academic administrative experience at an AACSB-accredited institution
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusiveness among faculty, staff, and students
  • Commitment to disciplinary diversity, liberal education, and the mission of comprehensive universities

Considered an Asset

  • Experience with AACSB accreditation/reaffirmation requirements and procedures
  • Collaborative leadership style and an innovative approach to problem solving
  • Demonstrated ability in fundraising to support ongoing operations and new initiatives of the College
  • Experience in acquiring and administering grant funding
