For many years I intended to become a cowboy. However, there are few opportunities to ride horses and rope cows when you live in Milwaukee. Since I couldn't leave Milwaukee, I changed my plans and decided to pursue a career as an artist. Family critics called my work, "frightening," and those of you who have seen my "drawings" in class know why I had to rethink the artist idea. A serious effort (graduate school) to avoid serious "work" (checker at the grocery store) landed me in Virginia where I developed a keen appreciation for dulicimers and became convinced that economics is more exciting than roping or sketching cows, after all. I also decided that Virginia was a nice place to visit, but I didn't really want to live there (the weather is so boring! It is 70 degrees in February and I almost never needed winter clothes). So I moved "out west" to Wisconsin where I have lots of chances to wear wool an try to help you understand the excitement in economics. Should I ever lose my enthusiasm for this career, I expect to take my dulcimer, move to Orlando and wear mouse ears.
