Top Of PageWelcome to D2L version 10!

D2L has been overhauled in this new version. Some changes you will notice:

  • A redesigned interface using a centered format with standardized colors and heading styles
  • A persistent minibar at the top of all D2L pages allowing movement between courses without returning to the My Home page, a Personal Menu on the far right replacing the My Settings widget, and an alerts section Alert Icon to notify users of course activity
  • In the various course tools:
    • Within tool navigation areas are now located along the top of each page rather than in the left sidebar
    • Commands within the tools are now clustered in dropdown menus accessed by pressing an arrow icon
    • The navigation bar disappears entirely from some tool pages, such as Enter Grades and when opening a Content topic; this is done by design to allow more space to view the information on these pages

  • New features introduced:
    • Must-post-first option in Discussion forums or topics allowing instructors to require initial posts from students prior to allowing them to see others' posts
    • In Grades, instructors may view details of student submissions to the Quiz, Dropbox, and Discussion tools directly by clicking on the icons to the left of grade items
    • Bulk publish of feedback in the Dropbox tool allowing instructors to make dropbox assignment comments and grades available to students simultaneously
    • Notifications feature allowing all users to opt in to receive emailed updates about course activity - Disabled temporarily!
    • SAVE and CANCEL buttons standardized in the lower left of tools on pages where these appear
    • More prominent location of the Course Builder link in Content; this tool allows educators to draft Content using placeholders

Additional changes:

  • The news widget has been removed from the My Home page; D2L news items are now posted on the D2L login site: www.uwec.edu/d2l, on both the login page and on the More D2L News page
  • The My Courses listing on the D2L My Home page now displays courses in descending order by term, then by college so most recent terms are at the top of the My Courses listing
  • The first level of enumeration in Content (i.e., Unit 1, Unit 2, etc.) has been suppressed for all UWEC D2L courses
  • Updated version 10 documentation for faculty and for students

Please contact the Help Desk (helpdesk@uwec.edu; 715-836-5711) or Roxie Muldoon (muldoorr@uwec.edu; 715-836-2700) if questions.

Top Of PagePosting YouTube and Films on Demand videos

  • When posting YouTube videos in D2L, please use one of the options in this Knowledgebase document to ensure students will be able to access the YouTube videos you post in your course.

  • UWEC Films on Demand videos should be posted in D2L as links in html documents opening in a new window; Films on Demand videos posted as Quicklinks will not play for IE users. Complete instructions for linking to Films on Demand in your D2L courses are listed in the Faculty D2L Help collection.
