General Information about the Ceremony
SEATING FOR GUESTS

Doors to Zorn Arena will open at 7:45 a.m. for the morning ceremony, and 12:45 p.m. for the afternoon ceremony. Tickets are required for all guests, including infants and children. The floor seating is reserved for graduates, special guests, faculty, the elderly and handicapped. This area is monitored by our Usher Corp and you will be asked to show your tickets for the floor seating.

Make arrangements in advance if your guests have special needs.

A musical prelude begins a half-hour before the ceremony.
REMOTE SITE BROADCAST

There will be a remote site broadcast of the ceremony in Davies Center — in Woodland Theater (328), and in Ojibwe Rooms A and B (330A and 330B)

No tickets are required for the remote site broadcast.

ARRIVAL OF CANDIDATES

Candidates should arrive no later than 8:10 a.m. for the morning ceremony, and
no later than 1:10 p.m. for the afternoon ceremony. -
Enter at the door to Hibbard marked Graduates Only.

Belongings may be stored in the room where you are directed to line up for the processional.

Please do not leave purses, wallets or other valuables in these rooms.
PHOTOGRAPHS
-
Professional photographs will be taken of all graduates as they receive their diplomas.

Photographs are taken by GradImages.

A digital proof will be emailed approximately five to seven days after the ceremony and orders may be placed online.

Standing at the front for photos during the ceremony is not permitted.

Photo stations are available at the reception site. In order to reset the Arena for the next event, there will be no photo opportunities in Zorn Arena.
DIPLOMA
-
Graduates will receive only a diploma cover during the ceremony.

Diplomas will be mailed to graduate's permanent address four to eight weeks after Commencement.

LENGTH OF CEREMONY

Commencement ceremonies are approximately 3 to 3.5 hours long.

ALCOHOL + AIR HORNS

Absolutely no alcohol or air horns will be permitted at the ceremony.
RECESSIONAL

Stay seated as the platform party, faculty, and graduates exit the arena.

Graduates recess from the arena and are asked to make arrangements for a meeting place with guests beforehand.
RECEPTION
-
A reception will immediately follow the ceremony in the Ojibwe Room and Ojibwe Room C (330 and 330C) of Davies Center or, weather permitting, on the Central Campus Mall.
