Order of the Ceremony
TIMELINE FOR GRADUATES
Guest Arrival
Doors to Zorn Arena open at 7:45 a.m. for the morning ceremony at 9 a.m., and
at 12:45 p.m. for the afternoon ceremony at 2 p.m. Tickets are required for all guests.
Graduates Arrival
Candidates should arrive no later than 8:10 a.m. for the morning ceremony, or
no later than 1:10 p.m. for the afternoon ceremony.
Line Up and Procession
Processions begin to move at approximately 8:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. Once graduates receive their reader card, they must stay in line and follow the marshals' instructions.
ORDER OF THE CEREMONY
Processional
At 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., following a brief welcome by the chair of the University Senate, the marshals will lead candidates to their designated seating area. They are followed by the faculty who are attending, and the dignitaries who will be on the platform during the ceremony. All remain standing through the National Anthem.
National Anthem
Be seated following the singing of the National Anthem.

Charge to the Class
This is a speech of approximately six minutes by a special guest of the university.
Presentation of DNP's, Master's and Specialist in Education Candidates by the Provost
With your College
Conferral of Graduate Degrees by the Chancellor
With your College
Presentation of Graduate Diplomas and Hooding by the Graduate Dean
With your College
DNP hooding will be done by a single reader. All other hooding will be done in double reader style.
Presentation of Baccalaureate Candidates by the Provost

Presentation of Baccalaureate Diplomas
Undergraduate candidates cross the stage as directed by the marshals, and hand their reader card to the reader just before stepping onto the ramp.
Reflections
This is a four-minute speech by a member of the graduating class.
Concluding Remarks by the Chancellor
University Alma Mater
Rise and join in singing. Words and music are printed at the end of the Commencement program.
Recessional
Platform party, faculty and graduates exit the arena. Arrange in advance where graduates and guests will meet.
Reception
All graduates and guests are welcome to attend the reception in the Ojibwe Room and Ojibwe Room C (330 and 330C) of Davies Center or, weather permitting, on the Central Campus Mall.
