An interview with Sarah H.
Sarah H, a Social Work major, chose the Nicaragua & Costa Rica
study abroad program because she believes that, “Spanish will be invaluable in my career as a social worker.”
Sarah said that the best part of her study abroad experience was falling in love with her host families. “They embraced me as a daughter and having families in other parts of the world is something I will always cherish.”
While in Costa Rica, Sarah spent her weekends traveling with friends by bus to the ocean. In Nicaragua, she was able to explore the northern mountain ranges. In both countries, she enjoyed spending time with her host families and traveling to local natural areas such as volcanoes or hot springs.” “I would absolutely recommend my program to anyone who wants to learn Spanish and fall in love with two very distinct and beautiful cultures!”
How has study abroad impacted Sarah’s life? “There are honestly too many ways to name. I can now communicate in a foreign language. I am very interested in immigration to the United States from Latin American countries. And I am now part of a very special community with my friends from study abroad. I wouldn’t trade these relationships for the world!”
