5. Real Time PCR and Gene Sequencer.

                                                       
Our Biochemistry/Molecular Biology major has always been one of our strongest programs and one of the oldest interdepartmental programs in the country. We now have a bona fide RNA biochemist in our department (Dr. Sanchita Hati) and this was a great motivation to improve our state of the art holdings in molecular biology. The Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction  cycler allows quantitation of dynamic gene expression levels.  Using a small amount of Chemistry Foundation funding allowed us to buy this demo model Bio Rad system, for a song.
