This is a truly cutting edge piece of equipment funded to the tune of >$130,000 from the NSF. It will allow us to separate complex mixtures by HPLC and then analyze the products by molecular mass. The resolution is sufficient to give us ELEMENTAL ANALYSIS but the range is such that we can measure the masses of large proteins and polymers. Careful leveraging of Foundation and UWEC funds allowed us to upgrade to the TOF mass spec and save about $100,000 in the process!!
