10.
Rescuing the Cary 14. Again.
Old-but not dead yet!
Revitalized!!
We have a little bit of classic Apollo 11-era technology that we have
been using for over 35 years! Many of you will remember the Cary 14
spectrophotometer from P-Chem or Biochem. The resolution and optics are
still unparalleled,
but alas the body is feeble from its last (1989) upgrade. We have
contracted with
Olis, Inc. a
homegrown American company, to modernize this venerable
instrument into a modern UV-Vis Near IR spectrophotometer that could
not be found today for under $100,000! Saved again from the junkyard!
Funds from Dr. Durcker's Dreyfus award, UWEC and the Foundation are
responsible for this economical conservation of resources.
