Where are you working and what do you do there?
I am the owner, President and CEO of JP Solutions LLC. We are a general contractor focused on storm related residential remediation, of damage caused by hail, wind, and water.
What is your typical work day like?
Start early by 6:00 AM…Get the accounting and orders out of the way by 7:30…then I get involved with production, sales, vendors, and customers as needed…My day usually ends about 7:00 PM.
What path did you take to your current career, were there other jobs along the way?
I spent 35 years in all levels of sales, marketing, and executive management with Fortune 100 Companies. I designed, engineered, sold, managed, and constructed >$750mm of construction projects for my corporate employers.
How did your liberal arts education at UW-Eau Claire help prepare you for your career?
Gave a good technical foundation from which to draw from…My major of Biology and Chemistry with some engineering courses taught me good investigative and problems solving skills and helped me develop an inquisitive mind set.
Is there something more you wish you would have done in college to prepare for your career?
Taken some business courses.
What advice do you have for UW-Eau Claire students to become successful in their own careers?
Keep an open mind, take calculated risks, surround yourself with good mentors, learn something new each and every day, have an entrepreneurial spirit, learn from your mistakes, and find what you love to do and the money will follow!
