What is your typical work day like?
Every day is different depending on the client and site. Anything from break-fix support to high level datacenter IT Direction.
What path did you take to your current career, were there other jobs along the way?
Regional Network Administrator
How did your liberal arts education at UW-Eau Claire help prepare you for your career?
Managing a full course load along with 20-30 hours/week helped to build the skills I needed to determine priority and set a focused schedule. Written and oral communication in the curriculum was also very helpful. I also enjoyed expanding my horizon with the general credits. Having exposure to multiple disciplines opens the doors to life-long learning.
Is there something more you wish you would have done in college to prepare for your career?
I can’t think of anything different that would have helped prepare for the career. Potentially study abroad.
What advice do you have for UW-Eau Claire students to become successful in their own careers?
Communication, self-motivation, and continual learning.
