What is your typical work day like?
My typical work day involves the end to end management of various marketing programs for my client. Our marketing programs consist of direct mail and email service marketing pieces for the automotive industry. It’s my duty to take a project from my client, organize with our IT, Creative, and Production teams to fulfill the clients request. It's my job to ensure all teams have proper direction, assignments, and stay on timelines until the project is successfully delivered.
What path did you take to your current career, were there other jobs along the way?
I started with Minacs directly after graduating from UWEC in May 2010 as a Marketing Consultant. In the Marketing Consultant role it was my job to ensure my assigned dealers were participating and happy with the marketing programs Minacs was running for our client. I was in this role for only 9 months before being promoted to Assistant Program Manager.
How did your liberal arts education at UW-Eau Claire help prepare you for your career?
My classes and professors in the UWEC COB were a pivotal part in my success. The knowledge and passion they shared really helped me learn and be able to apply my degree to real world success. Taking classes that weren't simply business related allowed me to expand my window of knowledge and really allowed me to grow as a student and eventual a young business professional.
What advice do you have for UW-Eau Claire students to become successful in their own careers?
Study hard, but don't focus all on books. Look at the real world experiences that your professors give you in class. Always look to expand your professional networking, you never know who may help you kick start a career one day.
