What is your typical work day like?
There is no typical day – that’s why I love what I do. I am responsible for the overall operation of the WITI FOX 6 – which includes revenue, ratings, production, news, and anything else you can think of. Every day is different – some more exciting than others, but when you work in media you never know what is coming next.
What path did you take to your current career, were there other jobs along the way?
Television production, television ad-time sales, television sales management.
How did your liberal arts education at UW-Eau Claire help prepare you for your career?
A broad based communication education helped quite a bit. I worked at the student radio station, took television production and journalism classes. I also worked at the local ABC affiliate.
What advice do you have for UW-Eau Claire students to become successful in their own careers?
If they want to work in television make sure they learn to write – it’s a skill that seems to be lost on the new generation.
