Dr. Lisa LaSalle joined our faculty in the fall of 1993. She completed her baccalaureate degree at Mary Washington College and her master's degree at the University of Virginia, both in Communication Disorders. Dr. LaSalle earned her doctorate at Syracuse University in Communication Sciences and Disorders with an emphasis in fluency disorders.
Dr. LaSalle teaches the undergraduate and graduate courses in fluency disorders as well as the undergraduate phonetics course. She supervises graduate clinicians who work with fluency clients in the Center for Communication Disorders, and she facilitates a weekly support group for adults who stutter.
Her specific area of research interest is childhood stuttering. She has mentored several master's thesis projects and some senior projects related to speech fluency.
Along with Shannon Collins, Dr. LaSalle is co-advisor of our local chapter of the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
