Since the mid-1960's, the Communication Sciences and Disorders department has provided educational programming for undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in careers in speech-language pathology and audiology. Our undergraduate program prepares students for graduate study in Communication Disorders. Our graduate program prepares students to work as speech-language pathologists in a variety of educational, health care, and social service settings.

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders offers programming that leads to undergraduate and graduate degrees. The graduate degree program offered by the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Both our undergraduate and graduate programs are very comprehensive with a strong focus on getting students prepared for the next step in their chosen careers.

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and our clinical facility, the Center for Communication Disorders (CCD), are housed in the Human Sciences and Services (HSS) Building, located on Water Street. The building was erected in 1982 as a location for our Department and the CCD. The Departments of Special Education, Social Work, and Public Health Professions are also housed in the HSS Building. In addition to these academic departments, the Human Sciences and Services Building houses the Human Development Center which is a multidisciplinary evaluation clinic, the Music Therapy Clinic, and the Office of University Research.
