South Dakota nursing immersion program

This can be the clinical practicum experience for Nursing 368 –Nursing Practice: Children, Families, and Communities. The course focuses on health promotion and health care of children and families within the context of community. The student will experience a cultural immersion and clinical experience over eight to ten days while living on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota. Students will provide nursing care to clients at the Rosebud Comprehensive Health Care Facility, an Indian Health Services Agency, and in the community with the Public Health Nursing Department. This excursion occurs during winterim or spring break.
