Why did you pick the major you selected?
The international business major has allowed me to gain exposure abroad, and has taught me more about other cultures. It is a wonderful complement to my French minor. After graduation, I would love to work for a foreign company, or work for a company that has operations in various countries.
Have you completed an internship or completed a service-learning experience?
Currently, I am working at Reality Works as the international business intern. Lately, I’ve been researching Mexico, learning about their history, culture, politics, healthcare, and education. From this experience, I’ve decided that I actually don’t mind researching and it’s broadened my desire to travel to different countries to experience their culture in person.
Have you studied abroad?
I’ve studied abroad in Pau, France. It was a great program; I finished my French minor, and was able to take a French business class. The class completed the requirement for my international business major, and I received a French business certificate. Tuition wasn’t too much more than what tuition is at Eau Claire. Most of my expenses came from all the fun traveling I did with my sorority sister, who studied in Pau with me. If you’re thinking of studying abroad, just go for it, you won’t regret it, and you’ll have the time of your life.
Have you held a leadership position in a student organization while you have been at UW-Eau Claire? What have you learned from that experience?
Through my sorority and my service-learning project, I was a Girl Scout Leader for a year and a half. It was a big learning experience. I’d even compare it to running a business. I organized activities that would be fun for the girls and the other leaders, would satisfy badge requirements, and would fall within our budget.
What does success mean to you? How has UW-Eau Claire College of Business prepared you for success?
Success to me means doing something where I’m happy, and my family and friends are proud of me.
What tips and/or words of advice do you have for high school students coming to Eau Claire?
Don’t worry if you don’t know what you want to study, just have fun. My mom told me the average college student changes his or her major three times; I figure I’m okay as I only switched it twice. I will be graduating with two majors.
