Why did you decide to come to UW-Eau Claire for college?

UW-Eau Claire was a perfect fit for me; it was the place where I felt at home. Eau Claire has many great opportunities to offer students like the National Student Exchange and Study Abroad programs. I knew I wanted to be involved in these kinds of activities during my time here.

Why did you pick the major you selected?

I was not always a business management major; I changed my mind about four times before actually deciding. Through my Disney College Program Internship experience I began to stand out as a leader and I found that leading and inspiring others is something I would love to do with my life. I talked to previous employers about my dream job and goals in life and they helped guide me with my decision as well.

Have you completed an internship or completed a service-learning experience?

My first internship was with the Walt Disney Company during my freshman year. Through my participation in the Disney College Program I gained many professional development skills in my role as a custodial cast member and a trainer for the company. As a result of this amazing experience, I gained leadership skills and became more independent and outgoing. I also developed a passion for serving others through guest service and hospitality. Disney helped me build a strong resume. I am also looking forward to my second internship experience this summer with Kalahari Resorts in Wisconsin Dells.

Have you studied abroad?

I am planning on studying abroad next spring in Scotland. I am very excited for this wonderful opportunity because I know it will be life changing.

What does success mean to you? How has UW-Eau Claire College of Business prepared you for success?

My definition of success is being happy with whatever you are doing in your life. I know that I will be successful in my life because I am passionate about what I am studying here at UW-Eau Claire. The College of Business has helped prepare me for success by fueling my passion for management and serving others. The university offers great opportunities for mentoring with professors and future employers through career fairs. They bring in real-world experience that has prepared me for life after school. The College of Business has also helped prepare me for my professional life apart from core classes through the workshops it offers in the Student Professional Development Program.

In your opinion, what role did/does CADE play in helping you achieve personal, academic and/or career success?

There are wonderful advisors in the CADE and they have helped set me up for success. CADE advisers not only offer guidance with class scheduling, but they also provide information about majors and minors, internship experiences, Studying Abroad opportunities, and the National Student Exchange. It is nice to go to an appointment with your advisor and have all of your questions answered in one place. CADE advisors are very attentive and personable.

What tips and/or words of advice do you have for high school students coming to Eau Claire?

You made a great choice in choosing Eau Claire! Get involved on campus by joining an organization, meeting new people, or getting an on-campus job. Also, build relationships with your professors, mentors, and advisors. These people are very interested in your futures and would like to help you out whenever they can.
