Why did you decide to come to UW-Eau Claire for college?
When I was looking for a college my senior year of high school I knew I wanted two things. Most importantly, I wanted a school with a good academic reputation that would prepare me for a successful professional career. Second, I wanted a place to play college football and Coach Glaser and the rest of the coaching staff really made me feel comfortable and sincere. I could tell they wanted me to be not just a successful football player, but a successful student and person as well.
Why did you pick the major you selected?
I came into Eau Claire declared a finance major and I did not change my major until right before spring semester my sophomore year. Two people influenced me in changing to an accounting major my older brother Scott and Dr. Miller. Dr. Miller wanted me to be successful and knew I had an interest in stocks and trading and told me that I could still do stocks if I were an accounting major and that having a CPA would really help me do that. My brother, also an accounting major, then solidified my decision by saying pretty much the same thing and told me it would really open doors throughout my career.

UW-Eau Claire College of Business has prepared me for success by challenging me in my classes and by teaching me never to be complacent. All the teachers have great advice and have helped develop me into a well-rounded student. They have taught me to be a life-long learner and instilled good work habits in me which I know will help me be successful in life.
What tips and/or words of advice do you have for high school students coming to Eau Claire?
I would recommend doing a lot of value-added activities and getting involved early. I would encourage them to join a club or a campus organization and try to serve on a committee or run for a board position later down their academic career. I wish I would have used the resources that are set in place to help you succeed like Career Services and all the tutor labs around campus more when I was a freshman and sophomore. One last thing, I would recommend keeping an open mind and having a positive attitude about learning.
