Why did you decide to come to UW-Eau Claire for college?
I visited the campus as a junior in high school and thought it was beautiful. I was also impressed with the Business School they offered here at UW-Eau Claire.
Why did you pick the major you selected?
I came to UW-Eau Claire knowing I had a strong interest in business, so I started my freshman year in Business Administration. From there I realized that Management seemed to be what I was most interested in. Then, after having some experience in APICS, (a business organization on campus) I knew operations management was what I wanted to do! Everything just fell into place and felt right.
Have you completed an internship or completed a service-learning experience?
I completed an internship with CH Robinson in Eden Prairie. There, I was able to learn more about day to day operations in the transportation of perishable food items. I also completed an internship with Lockheed Martin in Orlando, Florida. There, I was exposed to the production of missiles and focused on manufacturing. I spent the summer finding ways to so save the company money through making adjustments in their production process.
Have you held a leadership position in a student organization while you have been at UW-Eau Claire?
As a freshman, I got involved in APICS. My sophomore year I was president of the organization, which helped me get my first internship. I have taken other roles in APICS such as vice president, secretary, and chapter management. These leadership positions taught me how to interact with my peers, as well as business professionals. This allowed me to be confident in my interviews while searching for a job.
What does success mean to you? How has UW-Eau Claire College of Business prepared you for success?
To me, success is something that you are constantly working toward. UW-Eau Claire College of Business has taught me the correct ways to interact with business professionals, as well as taught me how to think for myself. This has prepared me for success after graduation. I am looking forward to taking what I have learned and putting it into action!
In your opinion, what role did/does CADE play in helping you achieve personal, academic and/or career success?
CADE helped me stay on track to graduate in four years. My advisor was available to me at the most crucial steps of planning my semesters, as well as helping me realize where my interests are.
