Sales Team

The UW-Eau Claire Sales Team represents the university at collegiate sales competitions around the United States where they compete for prizes and meet prospective employers.

Team members work hard and have fun. They meet weekly for individualize coaching that develops their sales and communication skills and enhances their self-confidence. The extra hours of practice pays off—100% of all team members report have a job prior to graduation.

The team is supported by the Department of Management and Marketing, gifts from friends and corporate sponsors, and a grant from UW-Eau Claire Blugold Commitment funds

Any UW-Eau Claire marketing major or minor  may try out for the team. The team is selected in the spring semester for the following academic year. For more information, contact Jerry Kollross.

Fall Competitions

Blugold Sales Challenge, Oct. 4-5, 2013
For UW-Eau Claire students only
One, 20-minute sales role play for ADP payroll software judged by sales professionals from NML—The Bohannon Group.

UW-Eau Claire Great Northwoods National Sales Warm-Up, Oct. 31-Nov. 2, 2013
Two, 20-minute sales role plays—one for a Hormel and one for a SuperValu product/service.

Florida State University International Collegiate Sales Competition, Nov. 8-10, 2013
Four elimination rounds. Round One: 20-minute sales role play. Round Two: “Needs Identification” sales call with a desired outcome of the buyer accepting a second appointment. Round Three: “Solution Presentation” sales call via Skype video to the foreign decision maker. Round Four: Direct selling situation.

William Paterson University Russ Berrie National Sales Challenge, Nov. 13-15, 2013
Two competitive events: one, 15-minute sales call role play and one, 2-minute personal sales pitch.

Spring Competitions

Blugold National Team Selection, Jan. 31, 2014
For UW-Eau Claire students only
One, 20 minute sales role play for ADP payroll software judged by sales professionals from ADP and Thomson Reuters.

Kennesaw State University National Collegiate Sales Competition, Mar. 28-31, 2014
20-minute sales role plays for a product/service. The competition is a tournament-style format which includes a wildcard and elimination rounds for advancement. 

AMA/Northwestern Mutual Sales Competition, April 12, 2014
Held during the AMA International Collegiate Conference held annually in New Orleans, LA.

Pi Sigma Epsilon (PSE) Pro-Am Sell-a-Thon National Competition, Apr. 12-13, 2014
A yearlong sales competition held a the five PSE fall regional conferences and the annual PSE NEF National Sales and Marketing Convention

Northern Illinois University Sales Decathlon, 2014 spring and fall semesters
Three elimination rounds held virtually in the spring. Finalists/alternates announced May 15, 2014.  Round 4 held virtually Sep. 18-19, 2014. Final Round held Oct. 2-3, 2014 at The top 20 competitors compete in the championship round at NIU.
