Our students are in demand. 97% of College of Business graduates report they are employed or continuing their education, as reported in the UW-Eau Claire Career Employment Survey, 2009-2010, the university's most recent employment survey.

Our MBA program has been recognized as both innovative and creative by AACSB International. The graduate curriculum is based on integrated, theme-based modules rather than traditional stand-alone courses. The program balances theory with application, number crunching with interpersonal skill development, and team projects with individual assignments.

Our online MBA Program is named a “Best Buy MBA”. The UW MBA Consortium has received a “Best Buy MBA” rating by GetEducated.com, one of the most respected and well known sources for accredited online degree programs in the USA.

The Center for Advising, Development and Enrichment (CADE), the college’s new advising center, is the hub for all academic advising, as well as information about internships, study abroad experiences and university services. CADE is designed to help business students graduate in a timely manner with a broad set of skills, experiences, and social connections developed over their academic careers.

We are innovators in technology and online education. Specialized learning environments funded by gifts from corporate donors prepare our students to compete in an increasingly electronic and global economy. Our online courses, graduate certificate program and our Consortium MBA meet the needs of time and place bound students.

Accounting students work with clients and while giving back to the community by providing free tax assistance through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. We are the only accounting program in the region to require all accounting majors to participate in VITA.

Our CPA exam pass rate is consistently the highest of all the UW comprehensive schools with large accounting programs, and is consistently above the national average pass rate.

Our finance program prepares students for careers in corporate finance, investments and banking through banking simulations, investment research competitions, and internships. Companies hire our students because of their communication and technical analytical skills, and their ability to effectively use these skills in making business decisions.

Our students are excellent communicators. All COB students must receive a grade of B- or better in their required business writing and presentation courses. More than 20% of our students take advanced course work to complete a business communication certificate.

Our Student Professional Development Program teaches students how to present themselves in a professional manner. This required program focuses on career development, professional etiquette and attire, and the job campaign.

Management majors complete certification examinations as part of their degree requirements. All operations/material management and HR majors must pass at least one professional certification examination offered by APICS-the Association for Operations Management or the Society for Human Resource Management prior to graduation.

Our HR Program has been endorsed by the Society for Human Resource Management for aligning with its recommended curriculum. As of May 2011, only 242 programs at 195 educational institutions across the world meet SHRM’s educational standards.

Students in the Dennis L. Heyde Entrepreneur Program gain valuable real-world experience by examining and communicating the feasibility of a new business idea through a business plan, which they present to a panel of entrepreneurs, economic development specialists, and investors.

Our Information Systems (IS) program has the largest student enrollment in the UW System and one of the largest programs in the Upper Midwest.

Programs in marketing analytics and audit and control are fast growing specialties that meet industry demand for employees who access and use information technology for decision-making. We are one of 10 schools nationwide to provide our marketing analytics students with Nielsen’s propriety software and research database. Our audit and control program meets standards set by ISACA.

Our sales program has been awarded as a top university sales education program by the University Sales Education Foundation. We are one of 53 sales programs in the U.S. and Europe to receive this recognition.

Marketing and professional sales students test their skills at regional and national collegiate competitions. We are hosts to the Great Northwoods Sales Warm-Up, a competition that attracts students from across the Midwest. Our student also compete in a variety of regional and national sales competitions.

Over 90% of our graduating IS students pass the Information Systems Analyst (ISA) certification exam on their first attempt. The ISA program is administered by the Institute for Certification of Computer Professionals.

Our health care administration program (HCAD) is accredited by NAB, National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards. Our program is one of only seven programs in the country that meets NAB’s criteria for top quality education and training of long term care administrators.

HCAD students gain real-world experience during a required, year-long, paid practicum. This practicum experience, plus coursework in the HCAD major, makes our graduates eligible to sit for the Nursing Home Administrators licensure examination in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and 15 other states. Most other states accept our gradates for licensure upon individual review.

Our international business program prepares students to live and work abroad. 20% of all business majors study abroad or complete an international internship. Students can study international business in Australia, Austria, China, England, Germany, Greece, India, Ireland, Japan, Scotland, South Korea and Sweden.
