Our students are in demand. 97% of College of Business graduates are employed or continuing their education, as reported in the 2013-14 UW-Eau Claire After Eau Claire Post Graduate Report, the university's survey of recent graduates.
Our MBA program has been recognized as both innovative and creative by AACSB International. The graduate curriculum is based on integrated, theme-based modules rather than traditional stand-alone courses. The program balances theory with application, number crunching with interpersonal skill development, and team projects with individual assignments.
Our online MBA Program is named a “Best Buy MBA”. The UW MBA Consortium has received a “Best Buy MBA” rating by GetEducated.com, one of the most respected and well known sources for accredited online degree programs in the USA.
Our undergraduate advising center is recognized nationally. The business college’s Center for Advising, Development and Enrichment (CADE) was one of eight programs nationally to receive a 2012 Certificate of Merit from the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).
Accounting students learn while giving back to the community through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA). UW-Eau Claire VITA student volunteers processed 1,710 tax returns during the 2013 tax season. This was 695 more returns than last year. Our award winning VITA program has provided free tax return assistance to low income individuals and families for over 20 years.
Our CPA exam pass rate is one of the best in the country. Our CPA pass rate is one of the highest of all the UW comprehensive schools with large accounting programs, and is consistently above the national average pass rate.
Our finance major prepares students for careers in corporate finance, investments and banking. Our curriculum gives students the preparation they need to sit for the Certified Financial Analyst examination. They enhance their communication and analytic skills through participation in simulations, investment research competitions, and internships.
COB students are excellent communicators. All business students complete a minimum of 12 credits of coursework in oral and written communication. In addition, more than 20% of our students take advanced course work to complete the business communication certificate.
Our Student Professional Development Program gives our students an extra edge in the job market. This required program focuses on career development, professional etiquette and attire, and the job campaign.
Management majors complete professional certification examinations as part of their degree requirements. All operations/material management and HR majors must pass at least one professional certification examination offered by APICS-the Association for Operations Management or the Society for Human Resource Management prior to graduation.
UW-Eau Claire HR students achieve top scores on the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Assurance of Learning exam. UW-Eau Claire students had a 92% pass rate on the most recent SHRM exam which was well above the national average of 59%. Our pass rate was the highest of all the schools that require their majors to take the exam. This is an honor UW-Eau Claire has held every semester since the first exam was given in 2011.
We are one of a handful of colleges and universities in Wisconsin and Minnesota to offer students hands-on experiences with SAP business applications and services. SAP AG is the world leader in enterprise software and software-related services. Knowledge of SAP or other similar enterprise resource planning tools is highly valued by employers.
Our marketing analytics major meets industry demand for employees who access and use information technology for decision-making. We are the only business school in Wisconsin to offer a marketing analytics major. We are one of the few programs nationwide where students use Nielsen’s propriety software and research database in class.

Our sales program is recognized internationally. We are one of 74 sales programs located in North America and in Europe to be named a 2014 Top University Sales Program by the Sales Education Foundation. We also are a member of the University Sales Center Alliance, a consortium of 35 university sales centers located throughout the U.S. Our sales team took 1st at the 2014 National Collegiate Sales Competition (NCSC). Since 2003, UW-Eau Claire has ranked in the top ten at the UCSC eight times. UW-Eau Claire is home to the Great Northwoods Sales Warm-Up national competition and the Blugold Sales Challenge, a local competition
Our health care administration program (HCAD) is accredited by NAB, National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards. Our program is one of only ten programs in the country that meets NAB’s criteria for top quality education and training of long term care administrators.
HCAD students gain real-world experience during a required, year-long, paid practicum. This practicum experience, plus coursework in the HCAD major, makes our graduates eligible to sit for the Nursing Home Administrators licensure examination in Wisconsin and Minnesota, most other states accept our graduates for licensure upon individual review.
Our international business program prepares students to live and work abroad. 22% of our business students have studied abroad, according to a 2014 COB survey of seniors. Students can study business and economics in more than 20 programs in 19 countries on 5 continents.
