Three students from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire chapter of the Association for Information Technology Professionals (AITP) will be competing at the 2014 Information Systems Project + Case Competition hosted by The Miller College of Business on the Ball State campus, April 4-6. The competition is open to undergraduate students majoring in information systems, management information systems, information technology, software engineering, and computer science.

Representing UW-Eau Claire are the following students:

  • Chris Greene, a senior IS business analysis major from Eau Claire, WI.
  • Josh Solomon, a senior IS business analysis major from Schofield, WI.
  • Justin Zollar, a junior IS business analysis major from Green Bay, WI.

The Blugold team will be accompanied by their faculty adviser, Tom Sulzer, associate lecturer, Department of Information Systems.

The UW-Eau Claire team will participate in the case analysis, where they will compete against 15–16 teams consisting of a maximum of six undergraduate students and a faculty coach. Teams will receive the case the first day of the event, and they will have until the following morning to develop a solution which must take into consideration all relevant issues, such as technical, regulatory, budgetary, social, and security. Teams will present their solution the following day to a panel of judges who will evaluate both the solution and the presentation. Awards will be presented to the top three case solutions. All participants will receive a certificate of participation.

This is the first time UW-Eau Claire has competed at the Ball State event.

“Our team is excited to test their skills against teams from across the Midwest,” said Sulzer. “Whether we place or not, this is a great experience for our students.”
