UW MBA Consortium faculty recognized for outstanding teaching
Three University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire faculty members recently received UW MBA Consortium Outstanding Faculty Awards for excellence in teaching. Voting was done during the fall 2013 semester by students enrolled in the consortium's Foundation program and/or MBA program the past two years.
Dr. Robert Erffmeyer, professor of marketing, was named the 2014 Outstanding Foundation Faculty Member. Erffmeyer, who helped develop the foundation marketing course in the late 1990s, was the first instructor for the course. He has been involved in every course revision since that time.
“Dr. Erffmeyer is on my outstanding list because he made the subject fun,” wrote one student. “He was engaging and did an excellent job helping students understand the principles being taught.”
Dr. Nancy Hanson-Rasmussen, assistant professor of management, was honored as the 2014 Outstanding Module/Core Faculty Member. Hanson- Rasmussen has taught the required Leadership mini-module since fall 2010. She has been actively involved in the most recent revisions of the course, helping Consortium staff align the course with the program goals and, more recently, with the more detailed objectives that have now been included in assessment.
“Dr. Hanson-Rasmussen is wonderful because she is very knowledgeable and cares about her student’s success,” wrote one student. Another student called her “the prototypical great prof.”
Dr. Kristy Lauver, associate professor of management, received the 2014 Outstanding Elective Faculty Member award. Lauver teaches the Employee Training Development elective, which she has taught as often as three times a year, keeping the overall vision of the course and updating and adapting it to the new capabilities in technology.
“Dr. Lauver is on my outstanding list because she is an all-around good professor," wrote one student. “Her course was challenging, but very practical and useful. She graded in a timely manner, and went out of her way to help. Whether on Skype, email, or message boards, Dr. Lauver was always available to her students.”
Each UW-Eau Claire faculty member was presented with a plaque on January 31 by UW-Eau Claire College of Business Dean Diane Hoadley.
