Business Communication Advisory Board to hold first meeting May 3

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Business Communication Program has formed an advisory board of alumni, and business and community leaders to serve as a sounding board for the program. The Business Communication Advisory Board will hold its first meeting, Friday, May 3, 2013 from 8:45–11:30 in Schneider 216

“Our advisory board will give us an insider’s perspective on how communication skills are used in the professional world,” said Dr. Paula Lentz, director of the Business Communication Program. “The board’s knowledge, expertise, and contacts will help us better position our graduates for success after graduation.”

The new board, whose members come from a variety of organizations, will provide the faculty with advice and guidance on curricular issues, feedback on communication needs in the workplace, and support for special student learning opportunities, such as the Business Writing and Presentation Studio. The advisory board will meet twice a year: once in the fall and once in the spring.

“Employers and alumni consistently tell us how well our Business Communication Program prepares graduates to be effective oral and written communicators,” said Lentz. “This collaboration between industry and community representatives and our faculty members will only serve to enrich our program.”
