May 3 reception to honor first accounting and finance department honor graduates and new Beta Alpha Psi members
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Department of Accounting and Finance will host a special reception for honor students, Friday, May 3, 2013 from 4:30–6:30 pm in Schneider Hall, Room 203. Faculty and staff will recognize the first students to graduate from the department’s honor program as well as students who were recently initiated into the Beta Alpha Psi honor society.
The Department of Accounting and Finance honor program provides accounting and finance students with opportunities for academic enrichment and challenge beyond usual course coverage and requirements.
Congratulations to the following students who are the first graduates of the program:
- JJ. Buczek, a finance major from Port Washington, WI
- Josh Mondor, an accounting major from New Richmond, WI
- Meghan Ryan, an accounting major from Fond du Lac, WI
- Aimee Stolt, an accounting major from Plymouth, MN
- Tyrrell Wirkus, an accounting and IS, business analysis double major from Edgar, WI.
“All of these individuals are exemplary students,” said Dr. Raj Aroskar, chair of the Department of Accounting and Finance. “Many of them have served as VITA volunteers and student tutors. Most of them have completed internships, and a couple partnered with faculty on research projects that took them abroad.”
To graduate from the department honor program, students must have resident, overall, and major GPAs of 3.50 or higher. In addition, they must have successfully participated in at least two of the following activities: a collaborative research project with a faculty member, a presentation at a professional conference, a paper accepted for publication in a peer reviewed journal, a project designed and executed under the guidance of a department faculty member, or an accounting or finance internship. Participation in the Accounting and Finance Departmental Honors Program is documented on the student's university record.
