“Competent New Leadership to Weather the Sea of Change”, is the theme of the 2013 Annual Center for Health Care Administration and Aging Services Excellence (CHAASE) Spring Banquet. The event will be held Thursday, April 4 at the Ramada Inn, 205 South Barstow, Eau Claire, WI.
The Honorable Mark Parkinson, president & CEO of the American Health Care Association (AHCA) and National Center for Assisted Living, will deliver the keynote address at the 7 pm dinner. As the leader of the nation’s largest association of long term and post-acute health care providers, and as founder, developer and CEO of award-winning elder care facilities, the former Governor of Kansas has a perspective that spans the continuum of care and makes him uniquely qualified to address the myriad of health policy issues facing the country.
“Mark’s acceptance of our invitation is a clear indication of his interest in students,” said Dr. Douglas Olson, associate professor of health care administration and CHAASE director. “He understands the need for universities to partner with stakeholders to insure that our field has capable and strong leaders now and in the future.”
The Ninth Annual Practicum Open House will be held at 5 pm at the Ramada. Similar to a job or internship fair, the Practicum Open House exposes students to organizations that hire HCAD students as practicum interns and full time employees.
New this year is the poster session highlighting the leadership projects of the HCAD practicum students. The session will be held during the Practicum Open House. The poster session is an effort supported by the Minnesota Area Geriatric Education Center (MAGEC) and the University of Minnesota chair in Long-Term Care and Aging. The session was organized by UW-Eau Claire assistant professor Jitendra Singh.
A social hour at 6 pm will be held immediately after the practicum open house and poster session. Dinner will follow at 7 pm.
A special thanks to the 2013 banquet sponsors. See list to right.
