The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire student chapter of the American Marketing Association brought home the gold at the 35th Annual American Marketing Association International Collegiate Conference held March 21–23, 2013 in New Orleans, LA.

The UW-Eau Claire student chapter was presented with the “AMA Gold Chapter Award,” which recognizes excellence in professional development, community service, fundraising, communications, chapter operations, and membership activities. Only three chapters out of all 327 AMA student chapters in North American are awarded this recognition annually. It is the first time the UW-Eau Claire chapter has received this honor.

"This is the strongest finish ever by a UW-Eau Claire AMA collegiate chapter,” said Dr. Scott Swanson, faculty adviser for the UW-Eau Claire organization. “To be recognized as one of the best overall AMA collegiate chapters in North America is truly an honor and a real testament to the incredible amount of talent and hard work that our students have exhibited throughout the past year."

Other UW-Eau Claire competition results were as follows:

  • Ariel Wegner, a senior marketing major from Marshfield, WI, and Michael Boucher, a junior marketing major from Beaver Dam, WI, took 1st in the Marketing Strategy Competition.

  • The UW-Eau Claire AMA chapter finished 2nd in the Outstanding Marketing Week Activities competition.
