Celebrate National Grammar Day on March 4
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Business Communication program will hold a reception celebrating National Grammar Day and introducing their new writing and presentations studio, on Monday, March 4 from 4–6 pm in the Business Writing & Presentations Studio located in Schneider 216 (Presentations Studio) and Schneider 322 (Writing Studio). The event is open to the university community.
Special treats will be served in the Writing Studio (Schneider 322). A drawing to win a Kindle Fire HD will be held in the Presentations Studio (Schneider 216). Contestants must correctly identify the 10 grammatical errors found on the Business Writing and Presentations Studio webpage. See box below for contest details. Business Communication faculty and student tutors will be in both studios to explain the services available to business students who wish to enhance their written and oral communication skills.
“National Grammar Day is a fun way to highlight the important role grammar plays in our personal and professional lives,” said Dr. Paula Lentz, business communication program director. “In today’s electronic world, an increased amount of correspondence is done using the written word. Your words are now your first impression—your grammar defines you. Good grammar makes good business sense.”
National Grammar Day is celebrated in the United States every March 4 and was established in 2008 by Martha Brockenbrough, founder of the Society for the Promotion of Good Grammar.
For more information about the UW-Eau Claire National Grammar Day festivities or the new business communication studio, contact Dr. Paula Lentz, business communication program director, at firstname.lastname@example.org or Emily Elsner Twesme, business writing and presentations studio coordinator, at email@example.com.
