UW-Eau Claire men’s hockey team wins NCHA championship
Congratulations to the UW-Eau Claire men’s hockey team for winning the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) regular season championship. The Blugolds become the first team beside St. Norbert Yellowjackets to win the NCHA regular season championship since 2008-09, when the Yellowjackets took the honors. It is also the first NCHA championship for UW-Eau Claire in the final year of the conference's existence.
College of Business students on the team are Brandon Stephenson, a senior management major from Saline MI, Derek Knetter, a freshman finance major from Wausau WI, Jack Callahan, a sophomore accounting and finance major from Red Bank NJ, Tom Stachiw, a junior finance major from Calgary Alberta, Devin Mantha, a senior management major from Sturgeon Falls Ontario, Travis Peckskamp, a senior management major from Sauk Rapids MN, Jordan Singer, a senior management major from Lino Lakes MN, Mark Pustin, a junior management major from Northridge CA, Daniel Olszewski, a junior accounting major from Janesville WI, Jon Waggoner, a junior marketing major from Fairbanks AK, Andrew Wilcox, a senior marketing major from Rochester MN, Chris Heineman, a sophomore operations management major from New Boston MI, Andrew McCabe, a senior accounting and finance major from Eau Claire WI, David Donnellan, a junior management major from Eau Claire WI, Ross Andersen, a sophomore business major from River Falls WI, Tyler Green, a freshman finance major from Noblesville IN, Taylor Ward, a freshman business major from Madison WI and Niko Kapetanovic, a junior marketing major from North Prairie WI.
The Blugolds will now wait for the results of the quarterfinal action in the NCHA tournament to find out their opponent for the semifinals. They will host the semifinal game at Hobbs Ice Center, Saturday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m.
