Retirement reception to be held for Tomkovick

Faculty and staff in the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Department of Management and Marketing are hosting a reception in honor of Dr. Chuck Tomkovick who retired in November 2012 for health reasons.

The reception will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 3:30 to 5 pm in the Cargill Collaboration Center which is located in Schneider Hall Room 203. A brief program will be held at 4 pm. Light refreshments will be served. The event is open to the public.

Tomkovick’s friends and colleagues have established a fund in his name through the UW-Eau Claire Foundation.

Tomkovick taught marketing courses for the UW-Eau Claire Department of Management and Marketing and the UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education for over 20 years. Throughout his academic career he received many awards including the UW-Eau Claire Excellence in Teaching award, which he received twice. Outside the university community, Tomkovick was perhaps best known for the Super Bowl advertising research he conducted with UW-Eau Claire professor of marketing Rama Yelkur. Their work has been cited in national media such as AdWeekAdvertising AgeCNN Money, KiplingerLiveScienceNew York TimesUSA Today, and The Wall Street Journal.
