Apply now for summer immersion experience in China

China Study Abroad

Applications are now being accepted through January 31, 2014 for a two-week University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire summer immersion experience in China, May 19 through June 6, 2014. A combination of pre-departure lessons, on-site lectures, and tours of important business and cultural sites in Zhuhai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Hong Kong will give participants an overview of China today.

The program, which will be led by UW-Eau Claire faculty members Dr. Ling Liu, Department of Accounting and Finance, and Tom Sulzer, Department of Information Systems, is open to undergraduate and graduate students. Students will earn three credits for the experience.

Students will study at Jinan University in China's Guangdong Province. Lectures on business and culture will be taught in English by Jinan University faculty. UW-Eau Claire students will be paired with Chinese "buddies" who will help them navigate Chinese culture outside of the formal framework of the program. Past participants have rated spending time with their buddies as one of the highlights of the experience.

Ten days in Jinan University will be followed by a three-day guided visit to business and historical sites in Hong Kong.

The estimated program cost is $4,650 for WI undergraduates and $7,479 for WI graduate students. (Minnesota students add reciprocity; students from other states add $900 in non-resident fees.) See box below for more information.

Detailed information about the program (including cost information) can be found on the UW-Eau Claire Center for International Education website.
