Sales Team places 8th at William Paterson RBI National Sales Challenge

The UW-Eau Claire Sales Team placed 8th at the 2013 Russ Berrie Institute (RBI) National Sales Challenge at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ, Nov. 13–15.

The RBI National Sales Challenge features two competitive events: 1) speed selling, an event where students make a 2-minute personal sales pitch to a number of potential employers; and the sales role play, a fifteen-minute sales call with a business executive.

Students from 37 colleges and universities from around the country participated in this year’s event. First place went to Western Michigan. Elon University in North Carolina placed second, followed by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, University of Toledo and Virginia Tech.

UW-Eau Claire student Brandi Bawek, a senior professional sales marketing major from Arcadia, WI, took 7th overall in the competition, and placed 3rd in the sales role play. Competing with Bawek was Steve Helgeson, a senior professional sales marketing and finance double major from Eau Claire, WI. Attending the event as alternates were Christopher Cull, a senior professional sales marketing major from Hartland, WI, and Elle Fox, a senior marketing major from Lakeville, MN. Jerry Kollross (Department of Management and Marketing) coaches the UW-Eau Claire Sales Team.

The RBI National Sales Challenge is the last event the UW-Eau Claire team will compete at this semester. Their next event will be the National Sales Team Selection Competition, a local event in early February that determines which UW-Eau Claire students will attend the National Collegiate Sales Competition at Kennesaw State University in late March.
