AMA welcomes new and returning students with tacos and bowling

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire student chapter of the American Marketing Association begins the new semester with guest speakers, socials, fundraisers, and more.

AMA welcomes new and returning members to this year’s schedule of events including the new member dinner, semi-formal and the Fun Run.

Ariel Wegner, a senior marketing major, is president of the student organization. Wegner is excited for this upcoming year.

“Our directors have scheduled many interesting speakers this fall and have planned a variety of social and professional development opportunities for our members,” she said.

Current AMA members welcomed new members with open arms and “walking tacos” on Sept. 13. Members socialized at the dinner with one another while mixing their desired toppings into a Frito bag to create the perfect taco.

“This dinner allowed general, director and executive board members to interact and socialize with people whom they might not have met in class,” said Wegner. “We played get-to-know each other and team building games to kick off the fall semester.”

AMA hosted their annual Buddy Bowling on Sept. 26 at 9 p.m. in Hilltop Center.

“Buddy Bowling was another chance to build relationships within AMA,” said Wegner. “Members created buddy groups by wearing an assigned color and competing for the coveted Buddy Bowling trophy.”

AMA members are looking forward to the regional and national conferences, along with the opportunity to get involved on campus and in the community.
