For the third year in a row, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire student chapter of the American Marketing Association is the recipient of the AMA Silver Chapter Award. The UW-Eau Claire chapter received the award at the 2012 American Marketing Association International Collegiate Conference held March 22-24 in New Orleans, LA.
The Silver Chapter Award recognizes professional development, community service, fundraising, communications, chapter operations, and membership activities. Only six chapters out of all 340 AMA student chapters in North American are presented with the award each year.
“This award is especially meaningful to us because it represents a chapter-wide commitment on the part of our board and members,” said Dr. Scott Swanson, associate professor of marketing and faculty advisor for the UW-Eau Claire group. “Everyone worked hard this year and their efforts were rewarded.”
“Our goal was to place in the top 10 chapters overall and we did it,” said Christina Kubitschek, UW-Eau Claire AMA president. “I am so proud of our members,” she continued.
In addition to the Silver Chapter Award, the UW-Eau Claire chapter captured several other awards at the 2012 conference.
The UW-Eau Claire case team took second place in the Collegiate Case Competition which required students to develop and present an integrated marketing communication plan for Prepare, Pearson Learning Solutions’ new service concept. UW-Eau Claire was one of 10 finalists invited to present at the competition after submitting their marketing plan last fall. Members of the UW-Eau Claire case team were Kacie Besser (Jr. - Sauk Rapids, MN), Patrick Connelly (Jr. - Edina, MN), Mitchel Lang (Jr. - Le Center, MN), Autum Miller (Sr., Appleton, WI) and Kaitlin Nix (Jr. - Osseo, WI).
Christina Kubitschek (Sr. - Shoreview, MN) placed 5th in the Northwestern Mutual Sales Competition. Fifty students from across North America competed in the event. Karen Dahl (Jr. - Appleton, WI) was Kubitschek’s buyer for the 10 minute role play.
UW-Eau Claire AMA also obtained awards in the following areas: membership recruitment campaign, marketing week activities, AMA SavesLives Facebook activity, and AMA SavesLives video competition.
