Get in the game: Attend the UW-Eau Claire Marketing Analytics Career Day, Thursday, April 26, 2012

Representatives from eight companies will be on the UW-Eau Claire campus, Thursday, April 26, to discuss this hot marketing discipline.

Marketing analytics uses statistical analysis and technology to make sense of the growing stream of data generated by marketing programs, social media and websites, ad campaigns, and sales. This information is used by decision makers to identify the most profitable customers, influence purchasing behavior, optimize the marketing mix, and calculate profitability.

UW-Eau Claire has the only marketing analytics program in Wisconsin, according to Dr. Joe Bonner, associate professor of marketing and organizer of the Marketing Analytics Career Day.

“Although the field of marketing analytics is growing rapidly, many students are still unfamiliar with what it is,” said Bonner. “We hope to change that by hosting a day dedicated to this exciting area of marketing.”

Analytics professionals will visit marketing classes throughout the day to discuss how their organizations use marketing analytics to make better informed decisions. Other highlights of the day include the following:

  • A presentation by Gerry Yeo, Retail Industry Principal for SAP, from 11 am-12 noon in Schneider 310. Mr. Yeo will present, “Marketing Analytics: The New Capability Driving Competitive Advantage”. » RSVP to the keynote presentation

  • Best practices sessions at 12:30 pm and 2 pm. Participants will be able to view and use actual databases and analysis tools. Both sessions will be held in Schneider 204.

  • A career panel presentation, “Get in the game: Score a career in marketing analytics”, from 3:30-5:00 pm in Hibbard 101. Panel members include Jodi Bresina, Internet Director, Mason Companies; Lynn Dean, VP, Group Client Director, Nielsen; Ian Novak, Category Development Business Analyst, CH Robinson; and Amber Theeuwen, US Marketing Manager, Hardware.com. The panel will be moderated by Dr. Chuck Tomkovick, UW-Eau Claire professor of marketing. Participants will also learn about the new Target scholarship program for UW-Eau Claire marketing analytics majors. » RSVP to the panel discussion

Students, faculty and the public are invited to attend as many sessions as their schedules permits.
