ACHCA Student Chapter has busy spring semester

The UW-Eau Claire student chapter of the American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA) offers many opportunities for students interested in careers in the long term care profession. See items below for a Spring 2012 update. The organization meets every other Monday. For more information about ACHCA, contact Rebecca Brunz, president or LaNette Flunker, faculty advisor.

New board members. ACHCA board members for the spring semester are as follows:

  • Rebecca Brunz, President
  • Liza Holle, Vice President
  • Taylor Herron, Treasurer
  • Mariah Brown, Secretary
  • Mark Van Den Broeke, Director at Large
  • Heather Kjelstad, Director at Large.

Spring activities. ACHCA members have planned a number of activities for the spring semester. Members participated in Valentines and bingo with Dove Healthcare residents. Future events include participating in Wii and bean bags activities with Heatherwood Assisted Living residents, participating in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, and hosting the Senior Prom on April 29th.

CHAASE Spring Banquet. A committee of ACHCA members are working with the HCAD faculty and staff on the 2012 Center for Health Care Administration and Aging Services Excellence (CHAASE) Spring Banquet. The event will be held April 19th at the Plaza Hotel & Suites in Eau Claire. "Elevating the View of our Noble Profession for Leaders Today and Tomorrow" is the theme for this year’s event. Legendary Packer quarterback Bart Starr is the keynote speaker. Starr‘s address will focus on the need for leadership development and the importance of pursuing excellence in the long term care profession.
