UW-Eau Claire AMA: Off to a busy start
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire chapter of the American Marketing Association has had a busy and productive spring semester. See articles below.

AMA holds regional conference for high school students
The UW-Eau Claire chapter of AMA held its 2nd annual AMA Regional Conference, Friday, February 3 in the Davies Student Center. Eau Claire area high school students were invited to learn about the academic and professional opportunities UW-Eau Claire and AMA have to offer them.
The conference included presentations by Career Services and College of Business faculty and staff, a panel presentation by AMA members, and a tour of the UW-Eau Claire campus.
Jana Schilmoeller, the College of Business Career Services liaison, spoke to students about internships, study abroad opportunities, and service learning experiences. Abbie Windsor, an academic adviser in the College of Business Center for Advising, Development and Enrichment, offered insight as to how to choose a major. Dr. Chuck Tomkovick, professor of marketing, presented “Doing Well While Doing Good”. Participating on the AMA student panel were Jamison Hauser, Mitchel Lang, and Aimee Stolt.
AMA takes the plunge for Special Olympics
Members of the UW-Eau Claire chapter of AMA participated in the Eau Claire Polar Plunge supporting Special Olympics–Wisconsin. The fundraiser took place February 26, 2012 at Half Moon Beach in Carson Park. Among the many participants, eight AMA members “plunged” for the cause. Dressed in colorful attire, the student members made a big splash. American Marketing Association raised over $500 for the event.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car sponsors annual AMA Fun Run
The Eau Claire branch of Enterprise Rent-A-Car will sponsor the 2012 Annual AMA 5K Fun Run. Enterprise employees Angela Kundert and Doug Roedl presented a check for $1,000.00 to the AMA chapter at its first general meeting of the 2012 spring semester which was held February 9th.
The UW-Eau Claire AMA Fun Run raises money for Wisconsin Special Olympics. This year’s fun run will be held on April 21 at Carson Park. Exact registration times and prices will be announced in the near future and can be found on the AMA website.

UW-Eau Claire AMA chapter wins awards in national collegiate competition
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire student chapter placed fifth in two AMA national competitions: a social media competition which critiqued chapters; Facebook activity, and a fall 2011 video competition which evaluated videos for information content and creativity. Both activities are part of the 2011-2012 Collegiate AMASavesLives Project which challenges AMA student chapters around the country to raise awareness for organ donation by conducting campus and community events, creating and submitting online videos, and using social media to advocate for organ donation.
