COB Career Services liaison Jessica Gardner to teach at UW-Stout
Jessica Gardner, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Career Services career and employment manager and the College of Business’ Career Services liaison, has accepted a teaching position in the University of Wisconsin-Stout Business Department. Gardner will be teaching professional selling and advertising promotions for the spring semester. Her last day at UW-Eau Claire will be January 5, 2012.
While at UW-Eau Claire, Gardner provided career advising to business students, assisting them with major exploration, resume and interview preparation, and internship and full-time job search. She developed and team-taught career–related workshops in the business college’s Student Professional Development Program. She also connected prospective employers to UW-Eau Claire students through various on-campus recruiting events such as the UW-Eau Claire Career Conference, Internship Mania, and The Great Northwoods Sales Warm-Up Job Fair. In fall 2011, Gardner taught the professional selling course for the Department of Management and Marketing, and managed the department’s collegiate sales team.
“My time at UW-Eau Claire has been well spent serving students,” said Gardner. “I have been truly impressed by the business students I have encountered the past four and half years, and have enjoyed watching them grow through participation in internships, student organizations, and other life experiences. I only hope I have touched their lives even half as much as they have so deeply touched mine. I will miss so many co-workers and students. Please keep in touch!”
Gardner was the “go to” person in Career Services for College of Business faculty, staff, and students, according to assistant dean Gretchen Hutterli who frequently worked with Gardner.
“Jessica was wonderful to work with,” said Hutterli. “She was always professional, always well organized, and she always delivered what she promised. While we will miss her tremendously, we are excited for her and this new opportunity.”
Gardner has a bachelor of business administration degree in marketing from UW-Madison and a master of business administration degree from UW-Eau Claire. Prior to coming to UW-Eau Claire, Gardner worked in pharmaceutical sales for Pricara/Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a division of Johnson & Johnson.
