UW-Eau Claire Marketing Teams Finish 1-2-3 in Marketplace Live Global Competition

University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire marketing teams placed first, second and third overall at the Ultimate Grand Market Master level in the fall 2012 Marketplace Live Global Competition administered by Innovative Learning Solutions, Inc. (ILS) of Knoxville, TN.
To compete at the Ultimate Grand Market Master level, teams must finish first in their game. UW-Eau Claire teams finished first in four games and second in two games. See results below.
Students participated in the competition as part of the fall 2012 marketing capstone course taught by Dr. Joe Bonner, associate professor of marketing. The 10-week web-based global simulation required students to manage the start-up and growth of an international electronics firm and make decisions regarding the global introduction of a new line of microcomputers.
"MKTG 438 students had stellar results this semester," said Bonner. "UW-Eau Claire students were pitted against 34 teams from schools in the United States and Europe, such as, Texas Tech University, Tennessee State University, Winona State University and University of Economics-Bratislava in Slovakia. UW-Eau Claire teams did very well."
Top honors went to the Prestige Worldwide team consisting of Travis Burgess, a marketing analytics and management double major from Bloomer, WI, Rylee Inks, a marketing analytics major from Fond du Lac, WI, Emily Leduc, a marketing and entrepreneur management double major from Sobieski, WI, and Eric Quiring, a marketing major from Andover, MN.
Finishing in second overall was DomoTech. Team members included Matt Austinson, a professional sales marketing major from Turtle Lake, WI, Emma Carlson, a professional sales marketing major from Rosemount, MN, Molly Hall, a marketing major from La Crosse, WI, and Andrew Rosene, a marketing major from West Bend, WI.
Core Computers came in third. Team members included Sarah Kuula, a marketing analytics major from Stillwater, MN, Connor Meloy, a professional sales marketing major from Madison, WI and Andrew Neumann, a marketing major from Germantown, WI.
