Gault named Outstanding Marketing Student; Marketing and Sales students recognized

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire College of Business marketing faculty hosted the December 2012 marketing graduates at luncheon held in their honor, Monday, December 10, 2012. The event was held in the Davies Center Centennial Room.

Lauren Gault, a professional sales marketing major from Milwaukee, WI, was named the December 2012 Outstanding Marketing Student. Learn more about Gault below.

Other students nominated by the marketing faculty for the award and recognized at the event for their scholarship, leadership, and community service were

  • Emma Carlson, a professional sales marketing major from Rosemount, MN
  • Molly Hall, a marketing major from La Crosse, WI
  • Connor Meloy, a professional sales marketing major from Madison, WI.

Four students also were recognized for completing the requirements for Certified Sales Student certificate sponsored by the University Sales Center Alliance, a consortium of recognized and accredited sales programs across the country.  These students were

  • Nick Adams, a professional sales marketing major from Shakopee, MN
  • Emma Carlson, a professional sales marketing major from Rosemount, MN
  • Lauren Gault, a professional sales marketing major from Milwaukee, WI
  • Connor Meloy, a professional sales marketing major from Madison, WI.

The Certified Sales Student certificate is awarded to students who go beyond the minimum course requirements in preparing themselves for successful sales jobs and careers. Any college student attending a USCA member school can earn this certificate by meeting the required coursework with authorized faculty and completing the extracurricular requirements which includes participation in internships, sales competitions, and professional training seminars.

Meet Lauren Gault

Lauren GaultAn outstanding student, excellent communicator, and fierce competitor both on and off the green, Lauren Gault has the skill set employers look for in prospective hires.

A professional sales marketing major, Gault enhanced her education by completed a minor in Spanish and certificates in Advanced Business Communication and Professional Sales. She furthered her knowledge of Spanish by studying at the Universitas de Castaelle in Valladolid, Spain.

Gault is a member of the 2012 UW-Eau Claire Sales Team. She placed 4th at the 2012 UW-Eau Claire Blugold Sales Challenge, and 6th at the 2012 UW-Eau Claire Great Northwoods Sales Warm-Up National Collegiate Competition (where she also received the “School Champion” award). She was the recipient of the “Most Valuable Presenter” award at the 2012 Indiana University National Team Selling Competition.

She is vice president of marketing for the UW-Eau Claire chapter of Pi Sigma Epsilon (PSE), a national professional business fraternity for men and women interested in sales, marketing, and management. She was a top ten finalist in the 2012 PSE Midwest Regional Pro-Am Sell-A-Thon.

Gault’s resume includes a media and marketing internship with Platypus Advertising and Design in Milwaukee, and a sales internship with Enterprise Rent-A-Car, where she was recognized as the top intern in Wisconsin. She also worked throughout her college career as a golf shop assistant for the North Shore Country Club where she helped coordinated member events and assisted in the daily operations of the 27-hole private golf course.

An outstanding athlete, Gault was a member of the UW-Eau Claire Women’s Golf team for four years. She is the recipient of two Blugold varsity letters for women’s golf.

Gault will graduate magna cum laude from UW-Eau Claire in December 2012. She has accepted a sales position with Hormel Foods in Dallas, TX where she will work in the corporation’s food service sales division.
