UW-Eau Claire AMA members among top performers in regional sales competition

Eighteen members of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) members participated in the 5th Annual AMA Regional Conference on Friday, October 26, 2012. Students from approximately 23 colleges and universities attend the event which was held at UW-Whitewater.

The conference featured tracks in business-to-business marketing, retail management and financial services. Students also had many opportunities to meet AMA members from other chapters and network with business professionals.

New to the conference this year was a sales competition sponsored by College Pro Painters. Thirty-five students competed in the event including seven students from UW-Eau Claire. All 35 students participated in the Round One. Fifteen students (including five students from UW-Eau Claire) advanced to Round Two where students were divided into three flights of five students. Cash awards of $300 for first place and $100 for second place were presented to the top two contestants in each flight.

UW-Eau Claire students Patrick Connelly, a senior professional sales marketing major from Edina, MN, and Melissa Erickson, a senior professional sales marketing major from Schofield, WI, placed first in their flights. Mitchell Lang, a UW-Eau Claire senior management major from Le Center, MN, came in second place.

AMA is a student-run professional business organization that offers students the opportunity to learn essential skills and leadership to prepare for a future in business.
