Adams, Erickson and Walther are finalists at Blugold Sales Challenge

University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire professional sales marketing majors Nick Adams, Melissa Erickson and Cameron Walther were the three top finalists at the 11th Annual Blugold Sales Challenge held September 21-22, 2012 on the UW-Eau Claire campus. The competition was supported by a $5,000 grant from Northwestern Mutual – The Bohannon Group.

All three finalists are seniors. Adams is from Schofield, WI, Erickson is from Schofield, WI and Walther is from Whitefish Bay, WI.

Adams, Erickson and Walther received awards, and the opportunity to advance to the UW-Eau Claire Great Northwoods Sales Warm-Up, November 8–10, 2012 and to attend the Kennesaw State National Collegiate Sales Competition (NCSC), March 1-4, 2013. Because Adams, who graduates in December 2012, is not eligible to participate in both events, he instead will represent UW-Eau Claire at the William Paterson University Russ Berrie National Sales Challenge in New Jersey, November 14-16, 2012. Samuel Mimier, a senior professional sales marketing major from Mukwonago, WI, will participate in The Warm-Up and the NCSC in place of Adams.

The Blugold Sales Challenge is designed to expose students to a sales competition and give them professional feedback on their selling skills. Students delivered a 20-minute sales presentation for NetSuite CRM software. Sales professionals from Northwestern Mutual – The Bohannon Group judged the student presentations.

Students competed in the Blugold Sales Challenge for the opportunity to attend The Warm-Up or one of seven other sales competitions held around the country during the 2012-13 academic year. Twenty-one UW-Eau Claire students will represent the university at eight collegiate sales competitions during the 2012-2013 academic year. See box below.

“We were very impressed by the event,” said Jordan Hauke, director of selection for Northwestern Mutual – The Bohannon Group. “It was evident during the two days of judging role plays that UW-Eau Claire students are extremely motivated to take their talents to the next level. It was gratifying to witness students stepping out of their comfort zone to better themselves".
