Flunker named to new position in HCAD, CHAASE
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Health Care Administration (HCAD) Program and the Center for Health Administration and Aging Services Excellence (CHAASE) welcomes LaNette Flunker as the new HCAD practicum coordinator and the CHAASE activities coordinator. She will work closely with practicum preceptors and students, alumni, employers and others to build relationships between the university and the profession, according to Dr. Doug Olson, associate professor of health care administration and director of CHAASE.
Flunker has a Bachelor of Science degree in health care administration from UW-Eau Claire, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN.
Since 1998, Flunker was a senior lecturer in the UW-Eau Claire Department of Management and Marketing, where she taught courses in marketing, health care marketing and professional sales. She served as the coach of the UW-Eau Claire sales team and was co-adviser for the UW-Eau Claire chapter of Pi Sigma Epsilon, a student organization for students interested in sales and marketing. In 2007, Flunker was awarded the UW-Eau Claire Excellence in Teaching award, the university’s highest recognition for outstanding teaching.
Prior to coming to UW-Eau Claire, Flunker worked as an administrator in several senior care facilities, where she also served as a preceptor for the UW-Eau Claire health care administration program.
“LaNette has both an understanding of higher education and the health and aging profession that is hard to find,” said Olson. “Her experience as a health care professional, practicum preceptor, teacher and student adviser will serve the UW-Eau Claire program well.”
Flunker is married to Galen, an electrical engineer with SGI in Chippewa Falls. They have two children: a son who attends the Milwaukee School of Engineering, and a daughter, who is a student at Regis High School in Eau Claire.
